"I'm taking this class where they're trying to help us figure out how to determine what's right from wrong. But the kids at my school all know right from wrong. That's not the problem. The problem is that some kids just don't give a shit."

Reminds me of something Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade said about his moral compass in Scent of a Woman. Unfortunately it's been far too long since I've seen it and I can't remember the quote.
is this it?
"Now I have come to the cross-roads in my life. I always knew what the right path was. Without exception, I knew, but I never took it. You know why? It was too damn hard. Now here's Charlie. He's come to the cross-roads. He has chosen a path. It's the right path. It's a path made of principle that leads to character. Let him continue on his journey. "
Excellent. I love that. It was my favorite thing about that movie. Knowing the right thing isn't hard. Choosing the right thing is the hard part.
